Preparations for the New School Year at Nyaudzudzu School

Summer has been quiet at Nyaudzudzu School since the students left for their holiday on July 24. The headteacher and deputy headteacher have remained at the school to take care of administrative tasks and prepare for the new school year, which begins on September 14, as well as the new Grade 8 program.

Next school year, the number of students is expected to grow by around 100. More than 850 students have already enrolled! This means approximately €1,000 in additional costs for school meals to ensure that all students can be fed.

We have also received the results of the end-of-year exams. After a long school year, the students took their exams in classrooms and under the trees. Overall, the students at Nyaudzudzu performed satisfactorily. The teachers have done everything they can to prepare the students for the exams, and this gives us a good foundation to build on. We have not yet received comparative results from other schools.

The results were especially significant for the Grade 8 students, for whom these were their final primary school exams. Of the Grade 8 students, 56.3% passed. Those who did not pass will have the opportunity to retake the exams next spring. We are now waiting to see how those who passed will be able to continue their studies, either at boarding schools or at the government school in the village of Muona. The new Grade 8 class started school this week, three weeks earlier than the other students.

Construction work is also continuing. Work on the supporting ring of the third school building is currently underway, after which the installation of the roof structures will continue. The roofing sheets arrived at the school last week.
